GETTING STARTED

When our great grand-dad, Bob Fisher, arrived in Blenheim in 1914, one of the first things he did was buy a local bakery for the princely sum of 100 pounds.

Blenheim folk liked grand-dad’s baking so much that in just 18 months he had to move to bigger premises.

A FAMILY AFFAIR

Over the years the bakery became a real family affair, with Bob’s son Iaen, and then Iaen’s four sons pitching in.

One of those sons was Paul Fisher (our dad), who stuck with the bakery when it was sold in 1969 to a company that would eventually become Goodman Fielder.

It’s fair to say that Paul probably has a fair bit of dough mixed in with the blood running through his veins. Food and baking have been his life.

In the seventies and eighties he distributed cakes, chocolates and confectionery to supermarkets and dairies around the South Island.

CONTINUING THE SUCCESS WITH ELITE

In 1991 Paul decided to focus on what he loved most. Baking.

That was the year he set up Elite Pavlova. The product range may have been small – meringues and pavlovas back then – but word quickly got ‘round the country that the products were top notch.
